1. Business Challenge
The recent content services such as PC contents services through the internet, TV contents services through local, cable and IPTV, mobile contents services through WiFi, Wibro and HSDPA have undergone transitions in its service environment. Furthermore, the launching of the iPhone has expanded the growth of the Smart Phone industry while the launching of the Android has expanded the growth of the Open-Type terminal platform as to magnify the demands for the union of air and correspondence services through FMC (Filed Mobile Convergence) and 3 Screen services.
The changing demands of the domestic mobile-service market have led to the merge of KT and KTF, acquisition of SKT on Hanaro Telecom, and the rise of unified LG Telecom. In relation to the market conditions, the need for dynamic contents sourcing system, development of the mobile synchronization technology, and MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) have been strongly emphasized for 3 Screen Services.
The current wireless internet services such as WiFi, Wibro, Zigbee, Bluetooth, UWB and WPAN have failed to meet customers' demands in facilitating and diversifying use due to limited service range of its models.
MTP presents an expanded model in relation to transfer, management, and sharing of multimedia contents. Although there are limitations depending on the service model, MTP is available for easy use with WM DRM, a contents copyright-protection solution of Microsoft, and the PlayReady system. In relation to copyright protection, Microsoft has failed to fix subordinate problems in its supply DRM system.
There is need for development of a solution that includes expanded service-centered application protocols in response to security issues of personal information during sharing, transfer, and management of multimedia contents in personalized mobile devices.
